Bama Lanes Montgomery

The Bama Lanes youth program kicks off each year in September on the first Saturday after the Labor Day week-end with a free 2 hours of practice and sign-ups.

During the sign-ups the youth bowler join the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and the Central Alabama Association, sign-up with team members as a team or sign-up to bowl and the coaching staff will assign them to a team.

League play begins the next Saturday.  The league consists of two sessions. during the first session the league will take one week off over the Thanksgiving week-end and the first session will end on the second Saturday in December.  On the third Saturday in December we celebrate the completion the the first session with a No Tap Bowling Tournament; Pizza Party and Awards Ceremony (each bowler will receive an award),

After a two week break, we return on the first Saturday in January after New Year Day and begin the second session.  At this time will add new teams, new bowlers and allow bowler to change teams.  The league will take one week off over the Easter week-end and the second session ends on the second Saturday in May . On the third Saturday in May we celebrate the completion the the final session with a No Tap Bowling Tournament; Pizza Party and Awards Ceremony (again, each bowler will receive an award).

Because our youth bowlers are members of the USBC and the local bowling association, they will receive awards form the National organization as well as the local association during the year.  Awards for youth are based on their average at time of bowling.  During the year most bowlers will receive several awards.

We also award a "Bowler of the Week" award every two weeks.  The boy and girl bowlers that  bowl the highest game with handicap over a two week period will receive a "Bowler of the Week" plaque.  This award is limited to one per year,  A year starts in September and end to May of the following year.

We have a very active parents organization that actively support the youth program at Bama Lanes in Montgomery.  We encourage all parent to join the organization.

The "End of Session" No Tap Bowling Tournament will consist of three divisions, based on the youth bowling averages.  Depending on the number of bowlers and averages, the divisions will be broken as even as possible to insure that all bowlers bowl against bowler with similar skills.  The competition will consist of three games with the bowler's handicap added to each game.  When a bowler knocks down 9 pins on the first ball in a frame, the bowler will awarded a strike for that frame.  Plaques for the first three places in each division will be handed out during the Awards Ceremony.

The league has a very good coaching staff with many years of experience bowling and coaching.
